The coastal Bay of Plenty's parks range from scenic and historic and from native bush to waterfalls. McLaren Falls Park in Tauranga is a great family park and includes the popular waterfall which is a starting point for kayak and white-water rafting trips on the Wairoa River. The Kaimai-Mamaku Forest Park is full of walking tracks which range from short hikes to multi-day adventures.
The Papamoa Hills Cultural Heritage Regional Park was established several years ago and is sited on very historic land. The park includes numerous pa sites plus a popular walking track. Located on the outskirts of Tauranga, Te Puna Quarry Park is an intriguing park full of art, plant life and walking tracks.
